Hello! It's finally time to start the first pattern! Super exciting!!! Unfortunately, I have been traveling and was not able to write the pattern out, however, I did find the exact pattern that I had in mind. I found it on Heart Hook Home and it is a wonderful site for crochet patterns. Just follow the above link for the pattern. This washcloth is very textured and is the perfect pattern for a washcloth. They are also great for gifts and super awesome for cleaning! I hope you enjoy the video and please let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy! Kim Welcome back once again! This is it! The last of the basic stitches but not the end. No...not even close! Now that you have the basic stitches down we can move on to reading a pattern, crocheting in the round, etc. I hope you have enjoyed learning the basic crochet stitches and hope that stick around to watch more! Enjoy! Kim We are getting close to the end of the stitch tutorials! This video will show you how to crochet the double crochet and you will see how the height of the stitch is beginning to increase. In this video you will learn the half double crochet and how to fasten off and weave in your ends. I hope you are practicing your stitches in your free time because I will have an awesome pattern written out for you very soon! Enjoy! Kim Hi! I am finally getting in the groove here...Next up is the Slip Stitch and the Single Crochet. I hope you had the chance to practice the slip knot and the chain from the last video because this week you are going to be able to actually start your rows! Have Fun and let me know if you have questions. Thanks! Kim
Hello! I hope you are excited to learn the basics of crocheting! I am excited to teach you so you go on to create awesome things! This week we will learn how to create our slip knot and chain.
I prefer to talk (or write) less and get on with things so... without further ado here is the first video tutorial. Enjoy! Kim Hey Everyone! Just a really quick update to let you know that the crochet classes will begin on Thursday January 11, 2018! Look forward to seeing you there!
Kim Hi everyone!
I wanted to let you know that you now must register (it's still free) for the Learning to Crochet classes. Since I teach and create Digitally as well, I want to make sure to keep these separate. All the digital artists may not want crochet updates in their emails and vise versa. So, when you first go to the Learn to Crochet page it will ask you to Register and create your account, from then on you will use this to sign in each time. Here is the first PDF and an introduction to the class. Please read over this prior to the class. Thanks everyone! Hello!
Welcome to the other side of Merrie Moore Designs! I wanted to take the time and tell you a bit about me. As you probably noticed, I do more than just crochet. I am a graphic designer, hand letterer, sign maker and love all crafts. It wasn't until after my mom passed away suddenly that I picked up the crochet hooks to keep my mind on something other than losing her. I can tell you that crochet has helped a TON with the loss and I have been asked by a few people to show them what I know about crochet. I am in no way an expert but I have been crocheting for about 7 years now and I am still learning. In this section of my site I will start with the basics of crochet and get into the more advanced stitches and such as time goes on. The crochet section of my site is a way for me to teach and share my experience with you and also share stories, patterns, tips and projects. I am very thankful that I did pick up those hooks and stuck with it, even though it was hard at first. Crochet has not only helped me with the loss of my mom, it has helped me learn to slow down and has helped tremendously with anxiety. Learning any new craft can be frustrating, just remember that when you do get overwhelmed to put your work down, take a walk, bike ride, read or whatever...and come back later. This makes things much easier on you and you won't be throwing crochet hooks out of frustration. Lol! I am available for questions, comments so head over to the contact page and send me a message. I try to answer them as soon as I can! Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to check back after the first of the year when we get started with the first class! Kim |
